Chad Richard

Chief Executive Officer
Chad has developed interactive consumer products and entertainment properties involving music, gaming, digital photography and video for more than ten years. Prior to founding Simple Star, Chad served as Executive Producer of Macromedia's Shockwave.com for three years. Before joining Macromedia, Chad did pioneering work in the interactive television arena, converging web-casting with interactive broadcasting, while creating a proprietary interactive format and tools to create interactive broadcasts. Chad has successfully started and sold three digital media businesses that were focused on interactive telephony, digital music and web entertainment. Peter Rice

Chief Technical Officer
Peter has nine years experience in software design and has delivered interactive entertainment experiences to broad mainstream audiences. Prior to founding Simple Star, Pete was a Lead Engineer at Shockwave.com where he invented several innovative consumer entertainment experiences including hit games and consumer creation applications. Peter is a graduate of MIT where he worked in the Media Lab for six years while earning a Master's degree in Media Arts and Sciences (1998) and a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science (1996).

Don Schena

Chief Operating Officer
Don brings over twenty years of executive management experience in the cable, digital media, and communications industries to Simple Star and is responsible for the continued expansion of Simple Star's award-winning PhotoShow platform to numerous digital environments, including cable TV. Additionally, Don oversees the day to day operations of Simple Star's finance, customer care, and human resource functions. Prior to Simple Star, Don held executive positions with prominent cable providers for several years including MediaOne, AT&T Broadband, and Comcast. Most recently, he was SVP for Comcast operations in the Bay Area where he managed operations that provided services for approximately two million voice, video, and data customers. During his cable tenure, he oversaw the development and implementation of network upgrades and the launch of new products and services including digital video, high speed internet, high definition TV, video on demand, digital video recorders, and residential telephone service. Prior to his tenure in the cable industry, Don held executive roles in the wireless PCS and cellular industries, including US West Cellular, AirTouch, and Aerial Communications. Don received his Bachelors degree in business from the University of Toledo.

Mike Edmunds

Senior Vice President, Products & Technologies
Mike has over eighteen years experience in product and technical management, focusing on consumer entertainment and digital media. Prior to Simple Star, he was VP of Engineering at consumer electronics startup CD3O. As SVP of the Interactive Products Group at web entertainment provider AtomShockwave, Mike led acquisition and production of profitable consumer content ranging from casual web games to personal media creativity applications. At Macromedia, he was the VP of Engineering responsible for the Shockwave Player technology and the industry-leading Director multimedia authoring software. He has also designed user interfaces and developed search engines at Verity. Mike has a degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Matt Moller

Vice President of Engineering, Video Services
Matt has over ten years experience managing large scale software projects, specializing in multimedia and distributed network technology. He has received international recognition for his work and in 1999 won the prestigious Prix Ars Electronica "Net Category, Award of Distinction" alongside Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux. Prior to Simple Star, Matt is best known for creating the technical foundation for Rocket Network, a ground-breaking company specializing in storage and distribution of digital assets for the media production industry. He served as Chief Technical Officer at the company until it was acquired by market leader Digidesign in 2003. He has a degree in Audio Technology from Northwestern University.

Nick Twyman

VP of Engineering, Online Services
Nick has over fifteen years experience in product development for both consumer devices and massively scalable internet sites. Nick started his career in the UK working for Symbian (then Psion) which developed the O/S used by many high-end Nokia phones and then joined Palm Inc. In recent years, he has held technical leadership roles developing large scale internet applications in start-up environments, most notably Avolent Inc and the Public Library of Science (PLoS). Nick has a post-graduate degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University in England.
